News: Father seriously burned after saving 4-year-old from Peoria house fire

PEORIA, AZ – A valley man suffered serious burns after saving his 4-year-0ld daughter from a house fire earlier this month.

According to 12 News, the fire broke out on May 4th at an unspecified residence in Peoria.

Witnesses say the fire began on the back porch of the home and soon became uncontrollable.

Tom Gerloff and his 4-year-old daughter were the only two occupants in the home when the fire broke out. Witnesses reported seeing Gerloff jumping over the fence and running back into the home to pull the girl to safety.

Gerloff suffered serious burns to over 30% of his body, but is expected to recover.. it is unclear if the child sustained any significant injuries.
