News: Police rescue 13-year-old from Mesa apartment fire

MESA, AZ – Officers with the Mesa Police Department jumped into action, saving a 13-year-old from a major apartment fire on Thursday.

According to a report by Fox 10 Phoenix, the fire broke out at an apartment complex near the intersection of McKellips Road and Mesa Drive.

Shortly after the teen was rescued, firefighters arrived at the scene. He was treated and released to his parents at the scene.

An 85-year-old woman suffered injuries due to smoke inhalation and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. One officer was also injured in the blaze but was also treated and released from the scene.

Ten people were left without a home as a result of the fire.
