TUBAC, AZ – A hit and run collision along I-19 left one person dead and two others seriously injured last Friday, Nogales International reports.

The accident was reported shortly after 9 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the interstate, just outside of Tubac.

Investigators say the men were changing the tire to a passenger van when a Ford SUV sideswiped the van.

One victim, 19-year-old Rodolfo Valenzuela, was launched nearly 100 feet from the van. Seconds later, he was fatally struck by a second vehicle.

The two other male victims were rushed to a hospital in Tucson. Their conditions are unclear at this time.
